This past week has been the hardest week in years for our family. After Shanes accident he had surgery the following Saturday (2/2). The surgery went well and he is recovering wonderfully. However, after we got home from Louisville my mother called to tell me to come back to Louisville to the hospital my grandfather was in. By the time I got there it was too late, he had passed away.
He had a high-risk biopsy done on Friday and was recovering in ICU. My mother, who is a CCU Registered Nurse, was staying with him at the hospital. She had just helped the attending nurse move my grandfather up in his bed, when his heart quit. By the time the Cath lab got there he was gone.
The Lord was gracious and took him quickly. After he passed my mother and her sister were by his bedside and the TV came on by itself playing a song titled: "Nearer My God to Thee." It was so comforting for my mom.
Again, I wanted to thank everyone who prayed for our family. We felt your love and support throughout.
