We arrived home safely! The boys enjoyed Florida. We went to Disney World for three days and stayed at the Shades of Green Resort. The boys enjoyed the rides and the pool.
The rest of the week was spent on Daytona Beach Shores. The weather was beautiful! The only bad thing is they had a "red tide" come in. I had never heard of this. The condo accountant said that this usually comes in on the gulf side.
The red tide can cause flu like symptoms for humans. So by the time we left on Saturday every member of my family except my oldest son was coughing and having trouble breathing. The 12 hour car ride home was less than fun! My youngest son, lost is breakfast an hour into the drive. Needless to say the van still doesn't smell the same.
Has anyone ever had any symptoms from a red tide? If so how long did they last?

Hello,
My name is Melissa McCartney and I live in Tampa Florida. I am currently completing my master's thesis on Florida Red Tide. As I googled images of red tide I came across your blog! I have created a red tide resource designed to be an informational hub to explain to residents and visitors alike what red tide is. I was wondering if you could offer me some assistance in the form of any photo's you took while on your vacation? I would be happy to explain in more detail my project as well as show you my web site! I could not find an e-mail on this site but you can reach me at MelissaE.McCartney@gmail.com . I would love to hear from you and learn about your experience with Florida Red Tide. I know how bad it can be, my parents have a house in New Smryna beach which is about 20 minutes south of Daytona. Look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Melissa McCartney
